What it is

Everyday care for growing bodies and minds

General paediatrics is the day-to-day medical care of children — from birth right through to the late teenage years. It covers the illnesses that come and go, the checks that keep development on track, and the everyday questions every parent has along the way.

Children aren't small adults. Their bodies, symptoms and needs are different, and change quickly as they grow. A paediatrician is trained specifically to read those differences — to know what's normal, what needs treatment and what simply needs reassurance — and to care for the whole child, not just the symptom in front of them.

Treating illness, guiding development, and giving parents peace of mind.

Our approach

Care built around your child and you

Great paediatrics is about more than treating illness — it's continuity, reassurance and a genuine partnership with parents.

The whole child

We care for physical, emotional and developmental health together — because a thriving child needs all three, not just a treated symptom.

A familiar face

Seeing the same paediatrician builds trust and continuity, so your child feels at ease and we truly know their history and growth.

There when you need us

Same-day appointments when your child is unwell, and unhurried time for the questions and worries that matter to you.

Empowering parents

We explain clearly and share the knowledge you need, so you feel confident caring for your child between visits.

Care for every age

From first days to the teenage years

Your child's needs change enormously as they grow — and one trusted paediatric team is there through all of it.

Newborns & babies

First checks, feeding and growth, reflux, sleep, rashes and all the questions of those precious early months.

Toddlers

Frequent coughs and colds, tummy bugs, developmental checks, toilet training and the busy toddler years.

School-age children

Recurrent infections, asthma and allergies, growth, and the bumps and worries of active school life.

Adolescents

Physical and emotional health through the teenage years, from growth and wellbeing to confidential, respectful care.

When to book

When to see a paediatrician

Trust your instincts — you know your child best. If any of these apply, it's always worth being seen.

A high or persistent fever
Difficulty breathing, fast breathing or wheeze
Poor feeding or fewer wet nappies in a baby
A rash that doesn't fade when pressed
Persistent vomiting or diarrhoea
Unusual drowsiness or a floppy, unwell baby
Pain that won't settle
Any time your instinct says something's wrong

In an emergency — a fit/seizure, serious breathing difficulty, a non-fading rash with a very unwell child, or unresponsiveness — call the emergency services or go straight to A&E.

What to expect

A calm, caring visit

We work hard to make every visit gentle and reassuring — for your child and for you.

1

Warm welcome

A calm, child-friendly space and an unhurried appointment — time to settle your child and talk through your concerns.

2

Thorough assessment

A careful history and gentle examination, tailored to your child's age, to understand exactly what's going on.

3

Clear plan

A diagnosis and treatment plan explained in plain language, with any tests or medication clearly talked through.

4

Follow-up & support

Guidance for at home, a clear sense of what to watch for, and easy follow-up or onward care if it's ever needed.

Good to know

General paediatrics, answered

Do I need a referral to see a paediatrician?
No referral is needed. You can book an appointment directly for any aspect of your child's health — a specific illness, a routine check or simply a worry you'd like to talk through.
Can my child be seen the same day if they're unwell?
Yes — we offer same-day appointments for sick children wherever possible, because we know how quickly little ones can go downhill and how reassuring it is to be seen promptly.
From what age — and until what age — do you care for children?
We care for children from birth right through to the late teenage years, adjusting our approach to each stage of childhood and adolescence.
Can we see the same paediatrician each time?
Wherever possible, yes — and we encourage it. Continuity means your paediatrician knows your child's history and growth, which makes for better, more personal care and a child who feels at ease.
What's the difference between a well-child visit and a sick visit?
A sick visit is for when your child is unwell — an infection, a fever, a tummy bug. A well-child visit is preventive: growth and development checks, vaccinations, nutrition and general guidance to keep your child thriving. We offer both.
Do you offer vaccinations?
Yes. We provide the full childhood vaccination schedule along with clear advice — you can read more on our dedicated vaccinations page, or simply ask us at any visit.
