Hormones, growth & development, in expert hands

Hormones quietly shape how a child grows, develops and matures. When something in that finely-tuned system is out of step — growth that's slowed, puberty that's early or late, diabetes or a thyroid concern — our paediatric endocrinology care brings specialist expertise and a calm, reassuring hand.

What it's for

The hormones behind healthy growing up

Paediatric endocrinology is the specialist care of hormones and the glands that make them in children — the system that governs growth, puberty, energy, blood sugar and so much of how a child develops. Because these hormones work in delicate balance, small imbalances can have noticeable effects on a growing body.

A paediatric endocrinologist looks at the whole picture — a child's growth over time, their development, family history and test results — to tell what's a normal variation and what benefits from treatment. Many concerns turn out to be reassuringly normal; others are very treatable when caught early.

The aim is healthy growth, steady development and confident, well children.

Our approach

Careful assessment, clear answers

Good paediatric endocrinology is patient and precise — building a picture over time, explaining every step, and only treating when it genuinely helps a child grow and develop well.

Growth tracked and plotted carefully over time
Blood tests and hormone assessment arranged on-site
Clear explanations of what results mean — in plain language
Reassurance where it's a normal variation, treatment where it's not
Close teamwork with your paediatrician and, for diabetes, the whole family

Good to know

Paediatric endocrinology, answered

Do I need a referral to see a paediatric endocrinologist?
No referral is needed. You can book directly if you're worried about your child's growth, puberty, weight or a hormonal concern — or if your paediatrician has suggested a specialist assessment.
My child is shorter than their friends — should I worry?
Often not. Children grow at very different rates, and many shorter children are simply following their own healthy pattern. A specialist plots growth over time and checks the family picture to tell whether it's a normal variation or something worth investigating.
What counts as early or late puberty?
Signs of puberty before about age 8 in girls or 9 in boys, or no signs by the mid-teens, are worth checking. Both are usually very manageable, and early assessment gives the most options.
How are growth and hormone problems diagnosed?
It starts with careful growth measurements plotted over time, a physical examination and family history — supported by blood tests or hormone studies on-site when they're needed. The pattern over time usually tells us far more than any single result.
Do you support children with diabetes?
Yes. We diagnose and manage type 1 and type 2 diabetes in children, with education and day-to-day support for the whole family — because managing diabetes well is very much a team effort.
Is a paediatric endocrinology visit covered by insurance?
Cover varies by policy. Our team is happy to help you understand what your plan includes and to assist with any claim.
