About Dr. Vohrer
Paediatric orthopaedics, from Germany to Dubai
Dr. Michael Vohrer graduated as a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Homburg/Saar, Germany. He began his residency in 1996 in Paediatric Orthopaedics at the Seepark Klinik near Bremerhaven, followed by two years in trauma, hand, reconstructive and plastic surgery, before continuing at the Orthopaedic University Hospital Mainz — where he established a Ponseti clubfoot clinic and developed the Paediatric Hip Ultrasound Screening Programme.
In 2007, Dr. Michael was appointed Consultant for Paediatric Orthopaedics and Foot Surgery at the University Hospital Freiburg. Alongside his clinical work, he was an instructor and lecturer in paediatric orthopaedics at Mainz and Freiburg, and at several nursing and physiotherapy schools across Germany.
He moved to Dubai in 2013, joining American Hospital Dubai and later becoming a partner at The Children's Medical Centre — establishing himself as a leader in paediatric orthopaedics in the city. He joined Circle Care Clinic in November 2020, where he continues to look after the patients previously under his care.
A member of the German Society for Paediatric Orthopaedics (VKO) and the Middle East Pediatric Orthopedic Society (MEPOS), Dr. Michael presents regularly at international meetings across Europe and the UAE. He consults in German and English.
Ponseti clubfoot & hip screening pioneer
Dr. Michael established a Ponseti clubfoot clinic and built a Paediatric Hip Ultrasound Screening Programme in Germany — depth in early detection and correction that gives young patients the best possible start.
