Child Immunisation

Why Keeping to the Vaccination Schedule Matters

Vaccines train your child’s immune system to recognise and fight specific diseases — safely and effectively. Following the recommended schedule ensures protection is in place before your child is exposed to potentially serious infections.

Sticking to the schedule matters because:

Babies and young children are most vulnerable to certain diseases.

Some vaccines require multiple doses at specific intervals to be fully effective.

Delaying or skipping doses leaves gaps in protection.

Herd immunity — when a high percentage of the community is vaccinated — helps protect those who cannot be vaccinated, such as newborns and immunocompromised individuals.

Post-Vaccination Care

What to Expect After Your Child's Vaccination

It’s completely normal for your child to experience mild side effects after a vaccination. These are a sign that their immune system is responding. Common reactions include:

Redness, swelling or tenderness at the injection site

A cold compress can help soothe this.

Mild Fever or Irritability

Appropriate antifever medication can be given for comfort.

MMR & Chickenpox Delayed Reaction

After the MMR and chickenpox (Varicella) vaccines, a mild rash and low-grade fever may appear 7–10 days later. This is normal and usually lasts only a day or two.

MenB Leg Soreness

The MenB vaccine commonly causes more noticeable redness and swelling at the injection site, and your baby may be sore when moving their leg for a few days. This is expected and will settle.

If you are ever concerned after a vaccination, please do not hesitate to contact our clinic. Our friendly team is always happy to advise.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

In the UAE, the recommended vaccination schedule begins at birth and continues through to 18 years. Key milestones include vaccines at birth, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 and 15 months, and further boosters at 2, 4–6, 10–11 and 16–18 years. At Circle Care Clinic, we follow international best-practice guidelines tailored for families in Dubai.

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) provides a recommended immunisation programme for children in Dubai. Circle Care Clinic’s vaccination schedule aligns with these guidelines and international standards, ensuring your child is fully protected.

At birth, newborns receive Hepatitis B, BCG (tuberculosis) and the RSV vaccine. Further vaccines are then given at 1, 2, 3 and 4 months of age. Our paediatric team will guide you through each step during your newborn visits.

Book an appointment with one of our paediatricians. We will review your child’s vaccination history and advise on any doses that may be due or overdue. Catch-up schedules can be arranged if needed.
