About Dr. Christiana

Dr. Christiana Savvidou is a highly experienced Orthopedic Hand Surgeon practicing in Dubai, after practicing for several years in the USA.

Dr. Christiana is committed to excellence in helping others. She understands that both simple and complex hand and arm conditions can have a tremendous impact on a patient’s function and quality of life and strives to provide individualized care understanding the specific needs of each patient. She offers evidence-based advice on available non-surgical and surgical treatment options, for a wide range of hand and upper extremity bone and joint conditions, in adults and children. Her clinical interests include sports injuries, hand and wrist fractures, nerve injuries, musculoskeletal deficiencies including congenital and acquired upper limb deformities. Other areas of expertise include hand tumors, neuromuscular disorders and other soft tissue hand abnormalities.

Dr. Savvidou earned her Medical Degree and Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the Orthopaedic Department of the University of Athens in Greece. She completed a fellowship in Hand Surgery at Tampere University in Finland, along with a fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the Christine M.Kleinert Institute, the University of Louisville in Kentucky, USA. There she received specialized training in adult and pediatric hand surgery, nerve reconstruction, microsurgery, and management of complex hand and wrist sports injuries and conditions.

Dr. Christiana has authored a number of publications in her field helping her establish herself as one of the leaders in her field of study and practice while also having been awarded on several occasions for her contributions to the field. Notably, she was part of the leading team involved in Hand Transplantation at the University of Louisville Composite Tissue Allotransplantation program. She has also held several teaching positions across Greece and the USA. Dr. Christiana is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), a member of the American Association for Hand Surgery (AAHS) and past General Secretary of Middle East Pediatric Orthopedic Society (MEPOS).

Dr. Christiana spends her personal time studying, dispensing medical treatments for charity, and practices playing the piano. Dr. Christiana has been a member of surgical missions to Gaza, under the auspice of The Little Wings Foundation in partnership with Al Jalila Foundation.
